***Thanks to Dave Braunagel and James Eledge for their most excellent kitchen/cooking skills......Totally awesome hamburgers, hot dogs, fries and cake.

***Rob's wife, Taryn made some unbelievable brownies.....OMG!! YUMMY!! Thank you Taryn...

**Appreciation goes to John Norwood for keeping up with the contests and contestant's, helping Dale out with raffle as well. He did a lot of running...Thanks for all your hard work.

So many people to thank, it was great to see everyone pitching in. Rob Faust for helping to set up, Frank Knighten and his wife for the sign out front, Billy and Todd for going to get more food!! Chad, Jennifer and Gabriel, and Todd for helping load out the trash bags. Also to Mike Funk and Mark Conroy for field preparation...awesome as usual. THANKS TO EVERYONE....If I have left anyone out....please forgive me...Not intentional! If you missed it this year....better not next year! It's just too much fun to miss!

On October 1st, there was also some fun taking place with Control Line pilots...
RINGMASTER FLYATHON!! Always held the first weekend in October. They got in 82 flights at Sportflyers with 7 different pilots...five club members and two guests. The Ringmaster Flyathon was started by Richard Grogan (HSF member) about three years ago. www.brotherhoodofthering.info
It was Dee Rice's 71st birthday, so his goal was to make at least 71 flights and they did...plus some. Across the world they compiled a total of 1505 flights in for the weekend. Congrats!!! Todd and I watched this for a little while...it was non stop flying! While one plane was in the air, 2 more were getting prep-ed on the ground by David Gresens. I was tired and dizzy from just watching, can only imagine how they felt by the end of the day :-) Here's to them beating 82 flights next year!

8th Annual Toys for Tots December 4th 2010.

Event summary..... Last Sat. Dec. 4, 2010 was HSF - Toys for Tots. It was a nice day.....a bit on the windy side tho..! Martin reports that we had 42 registered pilots. Presented to a Marine officer for Toys for Tots was $400 cash donation and 6 bags of toys, not bad at all. Thanks to all for helping to make a lot of children's Christmas very merry.

"Martin wanted a special thank you to go out to Stan Carter, John Forestieri, Dale Furneaux and Richard Beaver for their very generous cash donations, as well as toy donations. Also, thanks to Dave Braunagel, Dave Redsun and Dale Furneaux for running the event. And to all who came out to enjoy the day with us."

And to Dave Redsun for getting the Marines to send a representative. Wish I had the officers name, thanks Dave and please pass along our heartfelt thanks to him.

7th Annual Toys for Tots (2009) Event Report:

Toys For Tots 2009 Event Pictures Here

Pilots,

This was a GRAND event! Mother Nature cooperated, and the weather was absolutely fantastic! I am sure all who attended had a good time. The final tally reflects (I believe to be a record) 68 registered pilots. At best count, there were about 120 plus people in attendance total; two huge boxes full of toys and $746.00 in cash donations. Many comments from guest of how hospitable and friendly our club is—one of our key core principles. We should all be proud, as this is a quality or culture often sought, but too many times not often found. This is what makes our club so successful!

This particular event’s success could not have accomplished without the help of many club members, and I owe a great deal of thanks to: My wife Susan for taking care of all the shopping; Dale Furneaux (CD in training) and Billy Howard helping with my CD admin duties and whatever else was needed allowing me to cook; Mike Funk and Ron Matson: as usual, the “complex” was in its usual “Tip-Top” showcase condition. Frank and John Forestieri stepped up by again lending coolers of ice, and much needed tables.

I would like to extend my special gratitude to Ed Gallup, Randy Ritch, and Mark Spies donating aircraft for raffles—all proceeds going to TFT. It’s all about the kids-especially with a weaker economy.

Additionally, I want to graciously thank the sponsors of this event: Randy’s Hobbies, Balsa USA, and Tower Hobbies. Please make sure you support those who support us. These folks put the fun in our events for sure!

I am sure after sending this, I will realize I have unintentionally forgotten to thank someone, but you know who you are, and please know your efforts were appreciated.

Sincerely,

Todd Brueggeman

Event Report – HSF Inaugural Chopparazzi Festival Saturday 10.10.09

Chopparazzi Event Pictures Here

Pilots,

We had a very very successful event. Despite the marginal and cool weather, it seems all who attended had a good time. Our club had 53 registered pilots and likely as many spectators. Some of the folks in attendance were from Navasota, College Station, and as far away as Round Rock and Marble Falls. Many of our guest commented our club made them feel “at home” and we have one of the friendliest clubs they have ever been to. I would like to extend my gratitude to the following. If not for them, we would not have been extended such a great time: My wife Susan for taking care of all the shopping, helping with my CD admin duties, taking photos, and whatever else was needed; Thanks to Mike Funk and Ron Matson- the facilities were manicured and looked great despite the wet conditions. They always come through for our events, and make it one less worry on my part; David Braunagel and Mark Coskey for cooking up some great catfish, fries, and hushpuppies—they were all delicious. John Forestieri helped out with coolers full of ice, tables, and lending the use of his large “tent”.

I would like to extend my special gratitude to Mark Conroy for his guidance of what to expect and what is to be expected during heli events and contests. John Norwood pitched in to help with the scoring when needed. Mark Spies was solely instrumental in having the full-scale helicopter come in for everyone see and touch. That was just seriously awesome!!! I hope you can come back next year! (By the way, I met Mark’s boss ‘Big Mark” who owns this bird, and he is one of the nicest, down-to-earth people you will ever meet—a real pleasure to talk to)

I want graciously thank the entire HSF club. The plank flyers showed their support by working and/or giving up a Saturday so our helicopter pilots had to do nothing else but enjoy the entire facility and fly simultaneously at multiple flying stations for an entire day. This is what this hobby is all about, and they all seemed to take pride in showing off our club to our guests.

None of this would have been possible without any of YOU!!

Next years Chopparazzi event is already in the planning stages and promises to be even bigger and better.

I want to make a special mention to Heliproz and Larry's hobbies for the goodies and sponsorship! Remember to support those who support us.

P.S. I am sure after sending this, I will realize I have unintentionally forgotten to thank someone, but you know who you are, and please know your efforts were appreciated.

Sincerely,

Todd

Event Report - July Picnic

Pilots,

Just as I had hoped, we had what I consider to be a successful picnic. Despite the 100-degree temperature, it seems all had a good time. We have one of the friendliest clubs in the area, and I am ecstatic to be a part of it. I would like to extend my gratitude to the following. If not for them, we would not have been extended such a great time: My wife Susan for taking care of all the shopping and food; Mike Funk- I never have a concern that he will have the field and facilities in immaculate condition; Rob Faust with helping with the fire and David Braunagel with supplying the charcoal among other things; to my good friend John Forestieri for bringing much needed ice and lending the use of his large cooler.

I was pretty busy and did not get to spectate as much as would have liked, but we had 48 registered pilots and were able to collect $155.00 from the raffle sales thanks to the generosity of Mike Funk and Walt Skinner. We also had some great pilot giveaways thanks to our sponsors: Larry’s Hobbies and Tru-Turn Spinners. Next year will even be better…always is.
